Author’s Biographies
SCOTT SAVLOV has created or produced made-for television shows for more than two decades. Among them: VH1’s Fairway to Heaven, The Pressure Challenge and the Alma Mater Classic. This, his first book, derives from years of playing and eating at some of the country’s greatest golf courses. “It’s not a golf book or a cookbook—it’s an experience book,” he explains. “Each club’s entry aims to capture the distinctive experience of what that place has to offer—its course, its culture and its cuisine.” Savlov resides in San Diego, where he dedicates himself to fitness: “Otherwise, tasting all this food would have me weighing close to 400 pounds.”
JON RIZZI is the founding editor of Colorado AvidGolfer, an award-winning golf lifestyle publication based in Denver. The 2008 Ralph Moore Golf Journalism Award recipient has written for Golf, The American Lawyer, Golf For Women, Popular Science, Travel & Leisure Golf and numerous other publications. His career has included stops at Esquire, Town & Country, Woman’s Day and ESPN. He also wrote for Where Valor Rests, a photographic homage to Arlington National Cemetery. “Golf is about more than courses,” says the New York native. “It’s about traditions—and those traditions manifest themselves most expressively through a club’s signature dish.”
